Students will be provided a solar car kit and a set of gears. In a team you will research, design and build a car that uses solar power to power the engine and wheels. The twist to this activity which is similar to that of the 6th graders is that you will be learning about gear ratios and gearing and will have two races to compete in. You must build a vehicle that can go the fastest and then be able to modify the vehicle to go the slowest (but it must be moving). Two races, two objectives (fastest and slowest) but the same set of materials.
